The quiet nights count too: celebrating the small wins

When you're starting something, it's easy to only look at how far you still have to go. The followers you don't have yet. The sales that haven't come in. The version of your business that lives in your head and doesn't exist yet.

But while you're busy looking ahead, you're quietly walking past some really big moments.

The wins nobody tells you to count

Some of the most important milestones in a small business don't look like much from the outside:

  • The first time you said your business name out loud.
  • Your first post, even if three people saw it.
  • Your first DM asking "how much?"
  • Your first sale. Yes, even if it was your aunt.
  • Your first stranger buying from you.
  • The first kind message someone sent you.

Each one of those is proof that the thing you're building is real.

Small wins aren't small. They're the moments that turn an idea into a business.

The quiet nights count too

This picture is close to my heart.

It's a quiet room late at night. The only light is coming through the window. And on the wall is the picture of a life I kept working towards: the laptop, the coffee, the bag packed and ready to go.

That's what this whole year felt like for me. Long days, longer nights, and a lot of work nobody saw. Learning, building, starting again, and showing up even when I was tired and unsure if any of it was going anywhere.

There were no big announcements during those nights. No applause. Just me, a screen, and a picture in my head of who I was trying to become.

But here's what I know now: none of it went to waste.

Effort never goes to waste

When you're locked in on something you care about, you start to change before your results do. You notice things you never noticed before. You get faster, sharper, braver. You start to see the world differently, as a place full of problems you can actually solve.

The results always come later than you want them to. But every late night, every draft you deleted, every small thing you figured out on your own is quietly stacking up. And one day, it all shows up at once.

The work you do in the dark is what lets you shine in the light.

MintPack is that day for me. Every kit in this store comes from those quiet nights.

A simple habit to try

Keep a "wins" note on your phone. Every time something good happens, no matter how small, write it down with the date.

  1. First enquiry? Write it down.
  2. Finished your menu? Write it down.
  3. Stayed up late and finally got it working? Write it down.

On the hard days, open that note. It's a list of evidence that you're doing it, and it's longer than you think.

Stay locked in

If you're in your own quiet-room season right now, working hard while nobody's watching, this is your reminder: keep going. Celebrate the small wins along the way. Tell someone. Treat yourself to a good coffee. Be proud of how far you've already come.

The version of you that was too scared to start would be amazed at what you've already done.

So, what's your small win this week?
